I looked it up on her site and it has the title (By the Mountain Bound) but I don't see any information on what it is about. If one of the books was a prequel, that would be fantastic. I too think some backstory on the events leading up to Ragnarok would be very interesting to read about.Kristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01700004253248186101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146259764837045872.post-7314248684154279352009-01-15T10:50:00.000-05:002009-01-15T10:50:00.000-05:00I rather inhaled this book last night, and am look...I rather inhaled this book last night, and am looking forward to reading it again, at a proper pace this time. The writing was very nice, and I liked the angst. I liked the fantasy/scifi feel of the city.

The book seemed like a self-contained novel though. Will the rest of the planned trilogy continue the story or backtrack? The book did gloss over a lot of stuff that sounded totally interesting - all the events leading up to the Ragnarok, and then all the millenia in between, the Desolation, the fall of the cities. Maybe if she wrote one prequel and one sequel?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146259764837045872.post-60886955772583987612009-01-13T20:17:00.000-05:002009-01-13T20:17:00.000-05:00Nepthis - I hope you love it! I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series (coming in October 2009).Kristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01700004253248186101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146259764837045872.post-57122785681305259812009-01-13T06:40:00.000-05:002009-01-13T06:40:00.000-05:00That's very intriguing. I figured right away that waelcyrge = valkyrie (although I'd love to know how it's really pronounced), so that made it easier to orient the other words. I already have the book and looking forward to it now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146259764837045872.post-24843526324621908992008-12-08T18:08:00.000-05:002008-12-08T18:08:00.000-05:00ediFanoB,I saw Graeme also wrote a review of this ...ediFanoB,

I saw Graeme also wrote a review of this one today so maybe that will help you decide. I'd definitely recommend reading the excerpts on her site to see if you like the writing style or not.Kristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01700004253248186101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146259764837045872.post-31569189392154172432008-12-08T16:16:00.000-05:002008-12-08T16:16:00.000-05:00This is the second review I read about this book a...This is the second review I read about this book after Blood of the Muse. And I'm also still indecisive whether to put it on my list or not. I think finally I have to read a chapter or two but don't know when....

Anyway thankyou for an interesting review.ediFanoBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11129248787624088717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146259764837045872.post-32639506451435916372008-12-05T19:41:00.000-05:002008-12-05T19:41:00.000-05:00I really love how Bear writes worlds - they come a...I really love how Bear writes worlds - they come alive and even if they are bleak, they are beautiful and intriguing.Kristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01700004253248186101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146259764837045872.post-2877474445901827792008-12-05T10:00:00.000-05:002008-12-05T10:00:00.000-05:00I read the excerpts some time back (how can one ig...I read the excerpts some time back (how can one ignore a title like that?) and was really drawn in. I found it interesting that Bear made me almost wish that her world was real, despite its bleakness. That really doesn't happen very often.Janethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04600030574995481267noreply@blogger.com
