Thank you Kristen!

Is it bad I haven't written any of the nominees' books?

Oh well, I haven't written any of the nominees' books either, unfortunately. ;)

I've only read one of the books nominated myself (The Graveyard Book). I've never read anything all the way through by any of those authors in the novel category other than Gaiman, either, although one by Charles Stross is on my to-read pile. (Tried to read Stephenson's Snow Crash and just couldn't get through it.)

Elizabeth Bear, who was nominated for a novelette, is one of my favorite authors (for her Promethean Age series, A Companion to Wolves co-written with Sarah Monette, and All the Wind-Wracked Stars).
