Book Review Meme

John at Grasping for the Wind has another meme. Given the success of the last one, I figured I'd better add to the list. The instructions are as follows:

Here is how it works: Find a favorite book, movie, or videogame review (Science fiction and fantasy related) that you have written, no matter where it was posted, and add it to the following list. Make sure to repost the whole list, because in doing so, we accumulate what the reviewers themselves think is their best work, and give each other some linkages, increasing everyone's rankings.

Use the format of [Blog /Website Name] - [Book Name in CAPS w/ Link] by [Book Author Name]

It was hard to pick just one, but I ended up going with The Book of Joby (after considering Archangel Protocol, Blood and Iron, The Player of Games, and Maledicte).

Book Reviewer Link Meme

John over at Grasping for the Wind started this meme for helping everyone find new blogs. His original post is as follows:

My list of fantasy and sf book reviewers is woefully out of date. I need your help to fix that. But rather than go through the hassle of having you send me recommendations or sticking them in comments, what you can do is take the following list and stick it on your website, then add yourself to the list, preferably in alphabetical order. That way, I will be able to track it across the web from back links, and can add each new blog to my roll as it comes along. So take this list, add it to your blog, and add a link to your blog on it. If you are already on the list, repost this meme at your blog so others can see it, and find new blogs from the links others put up on their blogs. Everybody wins! Be sure to send the list around to others as well. There is an easy to copy window of all the links and text at the bottom of this post to make it even simpler to do.

Tag!

I visited Realms of Speculative Fiction today and found I've been tagged. I'm now supposed to get the nearest book, turn to page 123, and copy the fifth sentence.

Hm, there an awful lot of books that could qualify as "nearest" with 8 bookshelves here... So I chose the book I just finished, Blood and Iron by Elizabeth Bear. That sentence is...

You should go.

Well, that's a boring sentence. What's on page 223?

Seeker whirled and hurled the glass into the fireplace.

There, now there's some drama! "You should go." *smash* "You can't tell me to go! Maybe you should go!" (Ok, really, the first sentence was in reference to visiting America and was not at all dramatic but I feel a little gypped that I don't have a sentence that implies the presence of pirates and wenches like over at OF Blog. So soap opera theatrics is the best I've got, even if I had to invent it.)
